DVD/CDROM disappeared

After I installed the device driver for my MP3 player the
DVD/CD ROM has disappeared from 'My Computer'. In
Properties for the COMBI RW16x10/DVD drive in Device
Manager it says "Windows cannot load the device driver for
this hardware". Does this mean I have to System Restore to
the point before I installed the MP3 player device driver
install? Why would installing the USB MP3 player driver
wipe out the CDROM device driver? I would really like to
have both and fail to understand what's going on. Can
anyone help me here please? I've already deleted
the 'LowerFilters' value (There wasn't any UpperFilters in
the key) but that didn't help.

Uninstall the MP3 Player and see if this helps. If no, use the System
Restore to undo the installation.
Associate a new drive letter to the CD-ROM device (f. e.: Z:) via the
Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Storage >
Disk Management and then reinstall the USB device.
