DVD/CD-RW being misidentified

If you have drivers that came with the CD-RW/DVD drive, I
would update the installed drivers with those. The OS is
using what data it has available, and new drivers should
be able to provide newer data for XP to work with. Also,
if the vendor has a web site, look to see if any bugs are
being reported and/or corrected with regard to the error
that you are seeing.
 
The drive does not come with drivers. It just runs with
the normal XP CD Drivers as most other drives do (example
the Pironeer A05 DVD-RW on my Desktop, and the old DVD
drive in my laptop that died on me). I haven't found
anything like this anywhere before, so that's why I'm
turning to this newsgroup as a seemingly last resort.
