I'm running WinXP SP2 with a Plextor 708A DVD/CD RW and a toshiba
DVD-ROM/CD though I dont believe models are the issue here.
The drives do not "refresh" when a new cd is inserted. Often, the
"Title" (volume name that may be on the CD) of a CD remains even after
new disks are inserted. Only after restart will the empty drive show
asthe standard "DVD-RW Drive (F" etc. The contents of the previously
inserted disk remain in the contents expansion [+] of the drive., and
sometimes, these "retained files/directories" appear and the new disk's
contents appear as appended to these.
The most irritating aspect is often, mainly with multi-CD games, the
install goes thru the first CD, and asks for the 2nd...once the 2nd is
inserted, the system thinks the 1st CD is still there and will not
proceed with the install. Even of you can do a "browse" to tell the
system where the 2nd CD is, the browse still shows the contents of CD 1,
so the system still thinks it is looking at the CD 1's files and does
not "see" the needed contents of CD2 that is is actually in the drive.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Mike
