DVD/CD Drive Help Sought

Running XP SP2,
I just discovered that I can't run anything on my DVD or CD drive

The DVD drive is giving an error message ----> D:\ is not accessible.
Incorrect function.

The CD drive doesn't give an error message, but it show 0 bytes on any
CD I put in it.

Device manger shows the devices as working properly. I uninstalled
and reinstalled the drivers, no change.

Any ideas?

1. With the computer unplugged, reseat the cable and power supply
connect to the drive. Test.

2. If you still can't read CD's, swap it out for a known-working drive.
You can also test your drive in another computer to be sure, but if the
known-working drive is fine in your computer it is most probably that
your drive has failed and will need to be replaced.
