DVD Causing PC to Hang

I have a Sony Vaio running XP SP2, and this problem has happened once prior
to SP2. After loading a DVD and getting the "what action" Dialog box I
clicked on explore disc. This immediately caused my PC to hang. Since then
every time a dvd is loaded the system hangs. If I start up in SAFE MODE the
systems is OK, I can explore the disc. The last time I had to re-install
everything surely I don't have to go thru' this again. Have I found another
non existent bug!

Hi

Delete the DVD drive via Device Manager, reboot and let Windows re-detect
it.

Hi

Can you open your DVD software (WinDVD or whatever) and then play a file?

No none of the programs will play a DVD. Pause for
thought and spin up the crash!

Hi

Your DVD drive could be failing. Have you thought about replacing it?

It all works fine it is definitely a software issue! It
looks like I shall have to rebuild the system again
Microsoft and Sony get your act together please!
