XP fails to recognise CD/DVD occasionally

K

Kirk

Running WinXP home with SP2 and a ASUS DVD E616A3 CD/DVD ROM , and Pioneer
DVD112-R CD/DVD re-writer.

When swopping discs every minute or so with windows explorer fired up, it
will read disc and show me the image thumbnails perfect. Swop the disc for
another, occassionally, and it reports eventually that the disk may be
corrupt or not the correct format.
Pop the disc into the DVDRW and it reads fine... After that DVD reading
always fails, till I reset the machine. It seems like win Explorer is still
trying to read a disc from previously and can't /doesn't update itself.
Closing explorer and restarting doesnt cure it.
Any offers why or how to cure it.
Thanks in advance

Thanks for that Mark, I'll try that once I've finished burning today's

Hi Mark,
I've just carefully followed your instructions, and all was correct as
listed , except the last tick in the tickbox as above. I've done that now,
and I'm just about to reboot... I'll let you know if it cures the problem.

and thanks
