Dvd-burning verification errors

I have burned a couple of video-dvd's using Nero in XP. The dvd's are OK,
but verification fails because the vob files are (reported to be)
different. I never had this problem in Win2k. Apart from creating a dual
boot system with Win2k, how can I stop XP from changing the files (or
reporting they are different).
Any help appreciated.

To answer my own question:
The problem apparently was that I had registered the VOB file type to open
in PowerDVD. I still don't understand why PowerDVD would change just a few
bits in these files after they have been burned, thus causing the
verification to fail, but after I deleted the VOB file extension, the
problem has disappeared. Only downside is, I can no longer play a VOB by
double clicking.
