Win Explorer doesn't see files burned to a DVD data disk

Nero 6 burning rom
Compaq Presario - AMD Athlon 3000+ 2.16 gh, 512 mb RAM
Win XP Home - SP 1, all updates to date
Ricoh DVD + RW MP5240A

Burned data files to a DVD (about 4.2 GB), burn successful and
verification successful according to Nero.

Tried to view with Windows Explorer - drive acted like it was reading
files but win explorer showed nothing.

Nero media analysis indicates 4.2 GB of data on DVD

Someone told me Win XP/ WE won't see if over 4GB are burned.
I tried burning another DVD+R burning only 3GB - same problem

Burned CDRs work fine, no problem seeing data with WE

Any ideas?

In the interest of maybe helping someone else that has this problem,
I'll feedback the "fix" that worked for me.

I don't use the DVD RW except when my HDD gets too much data and
generally use it for burning files I want to save. I looked for what
changed since the last time I burned data and it was updating windows,
probably related to going to WMP 10. By updating the DVD
encoding/decoding software (in my case going to WinDVD 7) windows
explorer can now read the data on the DVDs I burn.
