I bought a new external DVD burner, because my old one isn't working anymore,
but now I've been asked to put in the cd to install, but my old one is not
working, now how am I supposed to do that? That's why I bought a new one , so
I can use it. Can anybody help me please?

You have to do it if Windows said that. Add a external or internal CD drive and
install the drivers.

Note: Add a drive whose driver can be installed by windows.

Assuming the new drive is installed and XP has acknowledged it's existence
(loaded default drivers)- when told to insert the CD - do so.

Windows can ask for disk for drivers if it cant find drivers.

Cripes! Just get on the Internet and download the drivers from the DVD
manufacturer's web site!
