DVD 7.6 phoning home?

Every time I fire up DVD 7.6, I get a firewall warning about ATI Multimedia
Center wanting to access crl.microsoft.com. Doesn't seem to matter whether
I allow it or not, the program still works, but WTF is up with this? Or is
this a DirectX9 thing?

I'm thinking that it may be wanting to download some CODECs from Microsoft.
Either way, I wouldn't allow it, if it were me.

I haven't been, though I did a couple times to see if it made any
difference. I don't understand what codec it could possibly be searching
for; the DVD decoders are already included in the software package,
installed and working properly, and these are ordinary commercial DVDs
I'm playing in it.

I'm tempted to set a packet sniffer loose on it and do some more digging,
but I was hoping someone here had already done that .
