Duplicated Desktop Icons

All of the desktop icons have duplicated themselves. If I
delete one icon, they both disappear. If I create a
shortcut on the desktop, two icons appear. All of my AV
software is up-to-date and does not indicate a virus.
Please send me the fix...thanks!
 
Hi Brian,

Go to Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersi
on\Explorer\User Shell Folders

Change CommonDesktop from:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Desktop

To:

CommonDesktop
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop
