Duplicate Normal.dot

Can someone explain to me why there is a shortcut of my Normal.dot in this
folder?

C:\Documents and Settings\stombk\Application
Data\Microsoft\Office\Recent\normal.dot

It shows a file size of just 1KB and does not have a ~ symbol in front of it.
Could this be the cause of my ongoing issues with a duplicate normal running
in the background when using Workshare to do my Word comparisons? The the
following error when using Workshare:

Word cannot save this file because it's already
open elsewhere. (C:\Documents and Settings\...Normal.dot).

Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you.

That is just a list of recently opened documents containing shortcuts
not actual documents. I would right click on the shortcut t
normal.dot, get properties, and locate the original, to determine if i
is the normal.dot in the correct location, or another normal.do
