Duplicate messages

Hi. For the last few days I have been receiving multiple postings of
many daily messages, both in MSpublicWinXP general and OEX-IE
newsgroups. I remember seeing what causes this but can't find anything
about it. Can someone refresh my memory. I have already tried going
offline, closing OEX and compacting folders. I don't have 'compact
messages in background' checked.

It sounds like your current OE Identity is damaged. If you're using the
default Main Identity, it's much more prone to such corruption.

Create a new Named Identity (File>Identities>Add new identity). Set up one
or more of your news accounts in it (Yes, you'll have to download everything
again). If all is well, add your mail accounts then import messages from
the old Identities local folders (only, not from news folders or Hotmail/MSN
folders) before deleting it (File>Identities>Manage Identities).
