Duplicate icons on desktop showing up as .txt documents.

Any help would be appreciated.
I have two users that have their application icons and folder icons
creating duplicate icons right on top of the original icon. The new
icons appearing over the originals are notepad icons. Ran through the
threads but could not find anything, ran a couple of the reg fixes,
still no luck. If anyones seen anything like this, please let me know
or if you have any suggestions. Thank you in advance.

I have something very similar, every shortcut on the
desktop has the same icon over the original, not the
notepad icon but another icon, I have not found any
resolution either yet !!
