Desktop Icons Have MS Paint Icon Layered on Top

I just installed Windows 2000 Pro on a new Dell laptop
PC, which originally ran XP. After installation I
installed Adobe Acrobat and WinZip and noticed that the
desktop shortcut icons are incorrect. Both icons display
their original application icon pictures but also have
the MS Paint icon layered on top of it. The Windows 2000
Pro, Adobe Acrobat and Winzip are all legit versions that
are used in a company environment, with the proper
licences, and have been installed on many other PCs prior
to this installation without any problems. I have
installed all of the correct up-to-date drivers along
with the most current Windows 2000 updates. I have also
checked to make sure that the icon target paths are
correct and have reinstalled the applications but the
problem still persists. Does anyone know what may be
causing the problem or what else I should check for?
