Corrupt Desktop Shortcut Icons

D

Donna

The shortcut icons located on my desktop display the
appropriate icon with an adobe PDF icon layered on top.
The icon beneath is barely visible and it appears all
shortcuts are PDF files. I am able to select "properties"
and "change icon". The underlying icon will change but
the PDF icon remains on top. HELP!

Control Panel|Display|Appearance|Advanced and try changing the icon size by
one, apply changes, then go back in and change the size back. This should
cause the operating system to rebuild the shelliconcache file which may be
in a corrupted state.
