Duplicate File

I have a friend who is using Excel in Office 97 and she has asked me this
question.

" In Excel when I open a file it tells me there is already one opened and I
can't open two of the same file, well I don't have another one opened, when
I click OK the note goes away and I can continue OK."

Can anyone assist please?
