Hi,
I have Outlook 2003 with SpamPal, XP Pro and Symantec Antivirus V.9
installed. Most of my emails are appearing in duplicate. How can I stop this
and why does it happen.
Thanks in advance,
Lenny

The first thing to do is to disable scanning incoming mail with your AV and
AS programs. The second thing to do is increase your server timeout value
on the Advanced tab of your account properties pages.

Thanks Brian,
I have changed the server timeout value from 1 minute to 4 minutes. Is that
about right? Also Email Auto protect with symantec was already disabled as
was the same setting on ZoneAlarm.

Hi have checked out that info dave but the emails are not set to stay on the
server after they have been downloaded. Also, they are appearing twice
during the same download.

Although I have tried everything mentioned so far I am still getting
duplicate emails.

Are you scanning incoming mail with an antivirus scanner? Do you have more
than one account configured?

Yes Brian, I have 4 accounts but I have turned the antivirus scanner off for
the emails.

Are those accounts referencing the same or a different mail server?
Multiple accounts on the same POP mail server can, under some conditions,
pull the same message through more than one account.
