Alex D.

Hello all,

I'm stuck with a problem that I've never encountered
before. Using Windows XP Professional. The system is
part of a Domain and I've given my user id administrative
rights to the machine and all drive security. When I
create a desktop icon or folder is is duplicated. If I
delete one copy they are both deleted once the screen is
refresed. I don't know why but the settings are made in
the all users folder not the local user?

Any advice?

Thanks, Alex.

Hi Alex,

Go to Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersi
on\Explorer\User Shell Folders

Change CommonDesktop from:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Desktop

To:

CommonDesktop
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop
