I am receiving a Windows System Error on startup. During
log in I am getting a message that there is a duplicate
name on the network. I am the Administrator. I do not know
what is generating this mesage, or how to resolve the
issue. I have been forced to restore my system several
times to regain control. It has been locking me out of
certain admin functions. I really don't know what is
causing any of this. This is a fairly new computer. 12/02.
There are No other names on this computer. Any help?

Are you on a network or you local?

Jim;
Do you have other computers?
What are they named?
You can not have more than one computer with the same name.
Simply change the name and see if the issue is resolved:
Right click My Computer, click Properties.
Click Computer Name tab.
Go to "To rename this computer..." click Change.
Type something different.
