DUN causes SVChost.exe errors

Making the DUN connection seems fine ... until Outlook 2000 or OEexpress
actually checks for email. As soon as this happens the CPU spikes up to 95%
+ and remains so. Then I get the SVChost.exe errors.

After this opening MS Word generates errors about not being able to Register
the Document and that links cannot be made in the document specifying
palmapp.dot and pdfmaker.pdf.

This does NOT happen with a LAN connection, just a DUN.

Rebooting solves the Word problem, which reoccurs again after another DUN
connection followed by SVChost.ext errors.

AND...when I do reboot after this situation...
I get a blue screen messages reporting a registry problem:
SystemRoot\Systen32\Config\Software - it is corrupt, absent or not
writable."
Sometimes I get the blue screen message THREE times in a row before the
system will boot and load Windows.

Ya, looks like your DUN registry settings are corrupted. Check out the
following article for a resolution (the cause may be different than yours,
but the fix is the same):

But alas...what was described in that article shows registry locations that
do not exists.
Mine shows only location1 and not the other three. It indicates keeping 1
and 2 and deleting 3 and 4, but I have only the one.
