Am setup to automatically download critical updates. I must "okay" the
actual install of these. IE 7 is setting in queue as a result. I don't
want it. How do I get rid of the queue to install it until I'm ready to
some 6 months or so from now?

Why is IE 7 considered a critical update?

Two ways, open the install and untick IE7 and then tick "don't show this
update again" or go to the Windows Update site and tick, "hide this
update" after unticking it as an update to download.

It's called a High Priority Update. They call it that because they are
baldfaced, sleazy liars.

Change your Automatic Updates settings to "download and inform me when
ready to install" (exact wording may be different). Then when you get
the yellow shield in your notification area that updates are ready,
click on the shield to get the updates dialog box. You will have two
choices - express and custom. Choose "custom" and click next. You will
then see all the updates available. Uncheck the box next to IE7. You
will then get a dialog where you can check a box that says "do not
remind me of these updates again". Do that and you won't get IE7.

I don't know why IE7 was considered a critical update. IMO it wasn't the
correct decision to do this, but oh well.
