Dumb message after running scan disc

G

Guest

Every monday I run the scan disc to clean it out. This week I received the
following: 'Files that are required for Windows to run properly have been
replaced by unrecognized versions. To maintain system stability, Windows
must restore the original versions of these files. Insert your Windows XP
Home Edition CD now. I do not have an XP CD. It was installed on the
computer and it will not accept the CD that came with the computer.
I had to manually turn the machine off to get rid of the message. Since
then, everything still seems to be fine except somehow I have lost all my
restore points.

Hi Judy,

You may want to read this regarding that problem:

I'm not sure what wiped your System Restore points, but there is nothing you
can do to recover them. Just create a new one and move forward.
