Dual TCP/IP Configurations

I have swapped a user from a desktop to a laptop. We are on a domain. I have
set the machine up as a member of the domain. Here is my problem. The user is
going to travel with the laptop. How can I have more than one TCP/IP
configuration, one for a static address when in the office and the other with
a DHCP configuration while on the road? The settings are global to all
profiles. I have created separate hardware profiles thinking the setting
might not stay and that did no good. Thanks for the help.

With XP, if there is no DHCP server on the domain, configure the laptop to
obtain an IP address automatically. Then click the Alternate Configuration
tab and enter the fixed IP settings. The result is that whenever the
machine cannot reach a DHCP server, it will use the fixed IP.

You cannot accomplish what you want with hardware profiles unless the
machine has two network adapters.

These programs let you store multiple network configurations and
switch between them easily:

Thanks for the info. I setup the TCP/IP for DHCP and then set the static in
the alternative tab. It is working perfect. Thanks again!
