Dual O/S Option after XP Pro Upgrade

As a result of a partially failed XP Home to Pro upgrade on a new HP laptop
the machine offers two boot options after POST. A non functioning Continue
with XP Pro Upgrade and a functional XP Home. Selecting XP Home loads Pro.
I've seen this with failed upgrades and repairs before but usually the
default (top) option works so it was just a matter of waiting for the timer
to count down. In this case the default is the non functioning XP Pro
Upgrade which I want to be rid of.

Any help gratefully received.
