dual monitors

i am using windows xp with two monitors (laptop and external monitor).
everyday when i reboot, the monitors are switched from how i prefer and i
need to reverse them (1 and 2). is there a way to set this to default to my
previous settings?

I'm not sure but you should look for a program called ultramon. Nobody with
dual monitors should live without it. It has all of those customization
features in it and maybe the settings will stick for you.
