Dual Monitors--Vertical Offset

J

Jim

Hi,

I have configured dual monitors in XP. In use are two identical Samsung
SyncMaster 213T ~22" monitors. When I move a window from the primary into
the secondary, the window is about 2" higher in the secondary. Screen
resolution is set the same for both monitors within Display
Properties--1152x864. The taskbar is only in the primary--don't know if
that matters

Does anyone have a remedy for this situation?

Thanks,
Jim

P.S. The desktop background image is not offset in the same manner as the
application window.

Do you mean window partially opens off screen?
Are you using the dual function of a vid.driver or simply the winxp one?
If you are using vid.driver dual, eg Matrox/Nvidea/Ati check the options

Thank you for the response, DL.

The window does not open off screen. It is just when I move an application
window from monitor to another that the fraction of the window is about 2"
higher in the 2ary monitor than it is in the 1ary monitor.

I am using the dual function of WinXP.

What vid.card do you have?

If you right click on the desktop and select 'properties' and then the
'Settings' tab, you will get a graphic representation of where the monitors
are positioned relative to each other. As you can see, you can position
them more or less where you want. Drag them so that they are the same
level.

If the graphics driver is any good, you can have the task bar on the primary
only or across both monitors.

Thanks, MI! Moving the position of the monitor in that graphic
representation did the trick.

How do I go about moving the TaskBar across both monitors, given that the
graphics card driver is up to the task?

Well I've used Matrox / Nvidea / ATI dual displays & never noticed an option
to spread the task bar across two displays. If it was spread I would asap
move it to a single display

Sorry, that's not possible, except with the use of a third-party
utility such as Ultramon at http://www.realtimesoft.com/ultramon/
