will someone tell me how to switch between two bootable
hard drives at the start up; one hard disk ( primary) has
xp pro installed and sec onardy HD has XP home installed;
a menu should ask me which HD I want to boot from; thanks

Just edit the boot.ini file on your default bootable harddisk and add another entry into it for your second operating system.

That will only work if the hard drives have not been "re-arranged", since the OS on the second drive was installed.

More information is required. How were the OS's installed? Was XP Home installed when the disk was the primary drive, then moved?
