Dual boot

A

Abel

I know on a dual boot system that I'm supposed to install
the older OS first, but I installed XP Home(c:) then 2k
Pro(d:). I deleted the 2k Pro partition and now I can't
boot XP. I can log on to XP using the recovery console,
which takes me to a command prompt, but what commands do
I perform to fix what I've done? Thank you for your time.

Hi, Abel.

the reason you cannot boot is because you're using an older version (from
Win2K Pro) of NTDLR and NTDETECT.COM. Copy these files over from the WinXP
CD (after extracting them) and you should be good. in Recovery Console,
FIXBOOT should do the trick too.
