Brand new 80G disk + I kept the existing 40, with all my programs and files. I
can boot either one by resetting the bios boot order, but that's a bit awkward.
What I am trying to do is reinstall everything on the new disk and hopefully
shake out the cobwebs in the process. Reinstall is time consuming so I am using
the original for work. Is there any slick way to switch from disk to disk
without resetting bios?

Did you try Accessories > System Tools > File and Settings Transfer Wizard?

Why, no. Good suggestion. Some programs I really need to reinstall or
I will carry the garbage in with the transfer. But -- if it works --
it will save time for many programs.

thanks
