dual boot xp

Can I have two copies of the same version of XP on my computer (1 on
the first primary and the 2nd on the second primary). I'd like to
create a dual boot between the two so incase I mess one up I still have
the other. or would I need to purchase a 2nd copy of XP - I was
planning on ghosting the 1st copy and copy to 2nd partition.

Hi ,

you will need to purchase a second copy of XP for the second boot. And doing
that will require you to maintain 2 sets of profiles which can be hard to
maintain.

If you go wrong anywhere then you can always use System Restore to recover
your computer to an earlier period where the computer was working perfectly.

Do not go for this dual boot option.

It might not be legal but it is possible.
While in your present XP insert the XP CD and start a NEW installation.Point
it to a different partition/hard drive than your present installation.XP
will install and you will need to activate it.XP will create the dual boot
so that the next time you boot up you will have a choice of which one to
start....be sure to name the 2nd installation in a manner that you will
recognize.
BUT............every thing you do in one XP will not be carried over to the
other...You will have 2 seperate OS.
You will have to spend countless hours trying to make the 2 exactly the
same.You will still need to create backups of your settings.If the original
crashes all you have is a XP thats not crashed with none of your settings.
A Good Backup program will do the same thing
