Dual boot xp prof / vista RC1 installation

Do I need to
1. Make both the primary parttion active.
2. Will xp and vista boot fine
a) If botht the parttion active.
b) If Only 1 partition is active and XP is installed there.

No, just install onto a 2nd drive. You will then have a boot menu
immediately after POST asking if you want to boot Vista or earlier version
of Windows, and defaulting to booting Vista.

If Vista won't start successfully and you want to change the default boot
back to XP from XP, you will need to run BCDEDIT from a command prompt, and
you'll find it in the Vista windows\system32 directory.
