dual boot installation

I have a daul boot computer (win XP the default, win 98se)

Problem:

at boot up i get the pick your system choise i pick win xp
and then the xp screen comes up the 3 dots start accross
the thing, they make it about half way accross and the
screen goes black and starts all over again.
if i go with win 98 boot up it goes fine and win 98 runs
great.

so my Q. is how do i reinstall win xp on this dual boot
sys.

any help for me

You probably don't need to "reinstall" WinXP, but if you do, the
instructions are here:

Be sure to visit Windows Update as soon as you get your firewall and
antivirus working again and get back online. There are a lot of fixes here,
including the one that protects you from the Blaster worm. Better plan on
half a day for the full reinstall of WinXP, but your installed applications
and data should survive the reinstallation just fine.

Just be sure to read the instructions carefully. The first Repair option is
not the one you're looking for; go past this one to Install, and then Repair
the existing installation.
