DSL or cable

I am using PPPoE as a connection type in the broadband router. Can someone
advise what are the DSL and cable internet and the differences in between.
Is there any easy way to identify these two systems?

DSL connects to your phone line. Cable Internet connects to the same
cable that provides cable TV signals.
