DSL modem working fine but no internet.

I am getting the "low or no conectivity" thing and all the symptoms point to
a winsock curption but I have tried every salution that I can find on the
subject but still I have no internet. I am runing Windows XP SP2. My only
gues is that what ever initaly cause the problem still has something
remaining on the computer. I have done several virus scans and with different
programs and now they do not turn up anything. The problem started back when
I got rid of some viruses and spy ware. At one point all of my device drivers
were gone completely and I had to reinstall everything. After that my
internet does not work. I was wondering if it could be a problem with the
modem (SpeedStream 520ar7). My internet browser was hijacked with a site
saying that I needed to install "THEIR" program to get rid of the
W32.my3or@yf virus that was want promted me to run the virus and spyware
scans in the first place. I used Ad aware, Spy bot, AVG, and McAfee. All
turned up something but none showed W32.my3or@yf so I just figured it was a
false thing the website said to try to get me to download their software.
Anyways all the salutions that have been proposed for the winsock coruptio
have failed to fix my internet.
by the way my ip addresses are
169.354.37.67
and subnet mask
255.255.0.0
Anyhelp would be great.

We'll try to help you, but please read a bit about how to ask for help. The

Now, please tell us something about your network. Do you only have 1 computer,
or more than one? How does your computer connect to the modem? What personal
firewall do you use?

Do you have an antivirus product permanently installed on your computer? Do you
have both AVG and McAfee permanently installed?

Please try all of the LSP / Winsock repair tools identified in my article:

If that doesn't help, then we need to look at the malware problem again.

By the way There is only one computer on the network running Windows XP home
edition SP2. No firewall but i did have Zone alarm but i uninstalled it. I
can connect to the modem with either Ethernet or USB but neither way will
allow me to connect to the internet. I contacted their tech support and they
talked me through the netsh winsock reset procedure and after that they had
no idea how to fix it. I am getting desprate here.
