There are 5 devices on a switch that is fed from the router which is fed via
a cable modem.

2 pcs retrieve dhcp from the routers but can not go anywhere on the internet
with ie6, the other 2 pcs can.

I have set then to static, replaced/repaired the winsock,
uninstalled/reinstalled the nics, testing the cabling, power cycled
everything, scanned them in safe mode, what am I forgetting??

Have you tried bypassing the router?
what happens in you unplug the ethernet cord from the switch on a
working computer and plug in a non working computer and then boot
the computer?
what shows in event log? the router logs?

The event logs on the don't point to anything wrong.
I did not bypass the router as 2 pcs work plus my own laptop worked
wired/wireless.
The router logs do not show any errors.
The nics on the problem pcs can ping the loopback and the router.

Try to Replace the port for the non-working ones by the working one and Vice
versa, does the non-working ones connect.#
Check the cables and clear the caches for these two PCs and Reboot, do you
have a firewall on those PCs try to Disable them for now.
HTH.

your ISP's DNS server?

post a tracert to yahoo.com from one of the afflicted machines
