Hi,
I am try to remove the child domain by using dcpromo. I got the error
with "Active Directory could not transfer the remaining data in
directory CN=Schema, CN=Configuration, DC=Virsa, DC=local to domain
controller us.home.local" with "The DSA operation is unable to proceed
because of a DNS lookup failure." I go to Active Directory Sites and
Services to replicate child DC with root DC and get error as "The
following error occurred during the attempt to contact the domain
controller VSINDDC1: the RPC server is unavailable. I am not sure it is
DNS, active directory or RPC problem. I will be appreciated your
information and help.

Thank you in advance,

Johnny Chow

Thanks, it is very good brief article. I delete everything on forward
lookup zone. I do ipconfig /registerdns and restart net logon services
then it automatically populate all fields such as mstc, gc and etc. The
problem goes away.

Thank you again,
JC
