Dropping Out of Windows 2003 AD domain

I have over 1000 XPe clients that present a consistent problem regarding
domain membership. Typically 2 or 3 clients each day are losing their
computer accounts in the 2003 domain. I've used group policy to disable the
30 day password change, but still several clients are affected each day. The
hardware is an HP T5710, using XPe SP2 build 5.1.212. Rejoining the computer
to the domain solves the issue. The domain controller is logging a
5722\Netlogon message in the event viewer.

Anyone have any ideas why these clients are behaving like this. Thanks in
advance.

Hi Ian, sounds like your devices are unable to persist a registry change to
the security hive when the domain controllers are trying to make an update
on the client machines participating in the domain. On the next reboot the
key will be out of sync with what the DC expects.

There is a hacky workaround for this but you really need an updated image
from HP that includes the "Registry Filter" for Enhanced Write Filter. This
'Registry Filter' will persist the domain key across reboots on your
protected device. I have no idea if the build from HP you're using has this
feature, so you should contact HP support folks and find out.

Take care.

Hi. thanks for the reply. I see that several base builds have been released
since I built mine. I'll try one of those.
