Drop Down Menu is Altered

Recently my norton internet security was acting up. I contacted Norton & they
sent me a patch to fix the problem. Upon fixing the problem I decided it was
a good idea to back up my system.

Here's my problem: I am trying to export my .pst file. When I select the
file menu the drop down no longer has an option to Impor/Export. It's not
just 'grayed out' it is simply not in the dropdown to select. I reset my
registry to a day before I had the Norton problem but nothing changes. At
this point I can not back my data.
All assistance is appreciated.

Thanks. That link gave me the information I need to back up my Outlook file.

I would still like to figure out where the [Import / Export] option went
from the >File drop down menu and how do I restore it to its origional
format?

Brian. I have copied my outlook .pst to my desktop then burned a copy to a
dvd. Now as per suggestion on the link you supplied me with I am attempting
to test the back up copy. I saved the .pst from the dvd to MY documents then
I opened Outlookselected > File>open>outlook data file>My documents then I
double click the Outlook file.
All that happens is Outlook goes to Personal Folders & I lists only one Item
A conversation ? from a couple of years ago. I am not sure how to test to see
if the back up to the disc actually worked?

Thanks,

Then whatever tool you used to burn the DVD didn't copy the fie properly.
I've seen it happen before. Was Outlook closed when you made the copy? It
must be.

OH,OH
I did something wrong big time. I now have zero data in outlook. Instead of
selecting copy on my .pst file then paste to my desktop so I could burn a
copy to dvd I just dragged & droprd the file onto to desk top. then I closed
outlook and burned the copy. When i opend out look to test the copy I had
burned I gat a message saying someting to the effect of can not find the
C:\documents and settings....Outlook.pst file.
Now I have outlook open but none of my data is there. blank slate.
PLllllease tell me I didn't just trash all that information. Can I reset the
registry to fix? Help :(

Your best bet is to carefully read the information on the link I cited
originally.
