Drop down Lists not working

Any drop down lists (including online, within the start menu and so forth),
are not working. When clicked on they instantly go away. For some you can
scroll down using the arrow keys. However, I can't access the lower icons on
the program list this way.

I find the problem so thought I would update. The drivers for the mouse were
messed up. re instillation fixed the problem.
