driving a European 50 hz TV from the video socket

I cannot get the signal from the video socket of my Acer
Travelmate 630 to drive a European TV (50hz). I am using
a SCART connector to interface to the TV.

The whole system looks dead. Should there be a video
signal out of the video socket. I am hoping that it is
the same as the monitor signal on my laptop. I have tried
degrading the laptop monitor signal to below 600 by 800
and default refresh....all to no avail.

I have done this on my Travelmate 620. You have to have the s-video out
connected to your TV (you might need an s-video to rca video adapter cable)
when you turn on the computer. Then go to display properties > advanced >
Intel extreme graphics > graphics properties properties, then select
television and set the scan rate. Beware! the graphics driver is buggy, you
might need to download a more recent one and install it. But set a restore
point in system restore before you do. Some versions of the driver hang,
and you might need to boot up in safe mode to restore back to something that
works.

Good luck
