drives

I'm running XP Home and have ever since I bought this computer. My secondary
CDROM drive stopped working a while back, so I installed a new DVDRW drive
(Dynex DX-DVDRW16), and then both drives stopped working, except very
intermittently, to the point of being unusable. Windows is telling me there
are no driver updates, and I'm not sure what else to do.

Either drive will work fine with windows drivers (most are of the 2001-03
era),
also,if either one is a liteonit brand,go to thier web site,they all get
firmware
updates.Also,try replacing the IDE cable &/or chk event viewer for warnings/
events,the controller might be going out...
