Drives dn't see discs!

Hello,

I'm just trying to copy some files on to a CD, however whenever I try to
copy them the CD Writing Wizard pops up, asks me to name the disc, and then
tells me to insert a disc! I have enabled the write to cd tab in the
properties>recording tab, but it doesn't want to stay enabled, ie if I check
back after trying to record it will be disabled again.

I have gone thru run>services.msc>IMAPI and started the service (and set to
automatic) but when I check back again it seems to be stopped.

Neither the CD/RW or the DVD/RW drive recognise a blank CD or DVD disc as
being inserted. Both drivers are updated and troubleshooters say they are
working properly.

Does anyone know what on earth is going on here?!

windows let you transfer files to and from
the cd's like any other file via file manager.

the wizard is likely to be a third party program
that you installed and is superseding the
generic writing capabilities that windows provides.

I'm not sure if you're right. The cd writing wizard looks very similar to
any other windows wizard. The problem is that no matter which program I use
(I've tried to use 2 third party applications as well as windows drag and
drop) the process breaks down and says that I need to insert a disc into the
drive... when there is already a blank disc in there!

So, if anyone has ideas I'd be very grateful.
