drives disappeared

Suddenly one of my DVD-Rom drives [I have 2 of the same D and E], my 3 1/2
inch floppy drive and one of my partitions have 'disappeared' from my
Computer.
The partition ,and DVD Roms are visible in 'diskmangement'
I have searched high and low for a solution. I know someone must know what
to do. Please help?
I have no problem accessing the contents of the hidden drive[F:] from disk
mangement. I can 'live' with one DVD-ROm and without the floppy drive. BUT
they were present and did work before. I would like to know what happened to
cause this

I found the article and I did everything described. Windows found the second
CD-ROM and installed the software for it (as usual) but it still does not
show in "my computer". I must make it clear that there are no errors in
device manager, and all the drives a visible in "disk management". So, the
problem is not really as described in the article. My floppy drive and a
partition of my second hard drive are also not visible in "my computer".
I appreciate your response. I still need help

Do they have drive letters assigned to them in disk management? If so
download tweakui from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

Run it and look for the setting where you can hide specific drive letters.
Make sure the drive letters assigned to those devices are not hidden. I
don't have tweakui on this system or I'd tell you where that setting was.

looked in Tweak UI long time ago . all drives are there and ticked

have anything else to suggest. Good luck.

Yes, drive letters are assigned in disk management. What I have done in the
meantime is to create shortcuts to my desktop of the floppy drive, second
CD-ROM and the "missing partition". In this way, I am able to use them and
they are functioning perfectly. However, there is still no way I can get
them to appear in "my computer". I suppose I might as well accept the
situation.
Thank you for your response

Nothing helped so, I decided to "rename" my "missing" drives and lo and
behold they are "back" in "my computer"
Floppy is still missing but I have created a desktop shortcut to it and can
use it without any problem.
So, I suggest those of you still having the same problem should try renaming
the missing drives. It even worked for my CDrom drive
