Drivers Updates

Hi

Windows Automatic Update does my Driver Updates
when I check the are up to date
but most of them are dated June 2006
I read the best place to Update is the Manufacturer for latest Drivers

I go to Intel my start page to begin search

http://www.intel.com/intel/index.htm?cid=cim:ggl|brand_ca_about|kECBB|s

I can not find the right Drivers or I don,t know how to look or what to look
for
and the suggest I go to Computer Manufacturer
so I go to Gateway Emachine
no luck either, perhaps I'm to stupid,
anyways

I downloaded Driver Updater Pro and Driver Detective
the both state I have more than 10 outdated Drivers
that's as far as they go without $$

Here two (2) of the many Drivers supposed to be out of date

Intel(R) 82801 GB/GR/GH (ICH7 Family) Serial ATA
Storage Controller-27C0
Manufacturer: Intel
Device type: IDE ATA/ATAPI controller
Driver Provider: Microsoft
Driver Date: 6/21/2006
Driver Version: 6.0.6001.18000
Digital Signer microsoft windows
File version 6.0.6001.18000 (longhorn_rtm.080118-18-1840)
-----------

Intel(R)PRO/100 VE Network Connection
Device type: Network adapter
Manufacturer: Intel
Driver date: 6/21/2006
Driver version: 8.0.44.0
----------
when I click update, it says latest Drivers are installed
but the 2 Programs I downloaded state thy are outdated

Refurbished Emachine
Vista Home Basic 32 bit SP1
Processor: Intel(R) Celeron(R) D CPU 3.33GHz 3.33 GHz
Memory (RAM) 512 MB

I like to learn how to find and how to verify, if I have the latest Drivers
and then download them free or are some drivers not free

any hinds or tips appreciated
Thanks Fritz

Thank you

Its just Computer is a bit slow takes about 5 to 10 sec. to open a folder or
internet
and the base score is low
Processor:4.1
Memory(RAM):2.9
Graphics:2.0
Gaming graphics:2.9
Primary hard disk:5.4
so I figured may have something to do with Drivers
and speed up a bit
its OK thanks

Those scores are "better" than mine, and my system is lightning fast,
but I am running with Home Basic and 3gigs of RAM. You have a
different problem.

Yes this one was fast too, when I first Activated it
I did a lot of exploring
Now it has slowed down

Diagnostic tells me
Excessive paging
Available memory low
average disk queue length is 1.
Memory Busy 84% utilization 81 MB Available
yea my slow monkey is right here
Even do I have 512 MB, 111 GB total
and only use 31 GB
and 80 GB free
been working on this for a wile, its OK no rush, will get there eventual
more exploring to do :)

Try this www.drivershq.com

It's a utility that searches your PC and then allows you to download the
correct and specific drivers for your PC. Even better, it allows you to
tell the utility the brand/model/make of PC, so you can specify to the
letter what type of DELL or Acer or HP computer it is, and it will find the
correct drivers, instead of getting Microsoft-written ones or some driver
that is close but not quite right.

It's not free but around $40.00 - a good investment. It claims to be the
first utility of its kind in that it searches for the 100% specific driver
for the particular PC instead of the "near enough" or "compatible" driver.

Do not rely on Microsoft Update to provide drivers.

You definitely need more RAM. THAT is why it's slow.

It was faster when new because you had less stuff running on it.

If you have only 512mb memory you realy ought to up that to 1gb to have any
meaningfull Vista experience, and 2gb is better
How does the PC perform if booted to safe mode?

I'll be even stronger than that. Even 1GB is inadequate for almost
everybody. Decent performance running Vista pretty much begins with 2GB.
