Driver updates greyed out on Windows Update

Can anybody please help?
When I run windows update the Driver updates are greyed out.
Critical and Windows XP is working ok, bur the Driver updates are
greyed out.

I run the Windows Update as Administrator.
Windows XP Professional SP1

That's probably a lucky thing for you. If you feel you absolutely must
update a driver, go to the website of the device manufacturer and get
the actual latest version, instead of whatever MS is serving up on
Windows Update. Then configure Windows Update so it doesn't continually
ask you to install any drivers (some of which may in fact be actually
older than the one you have installed). If your system is working well,
updating drivers just for the sake of updating may not be the best
policy.

I have seen this behavior corrected by the date and language suggestion.
Not sure in your case as of now.

What you could do is run the undo on line 208.

Just to add a little more to this...

Mine started after I ran XP updates and it identified a new driver for my
soundblaster card. For some reason I decided to upgrade it (I already had
the latest from the Creative website) and the MS one screwed the sound
completely so I removed it and went back to the creative driver.

I am sure that immediately after the driver still showed as available on the
MS update (might be wrong) but now the driver tab is simply greyed out.

I'm a victim of this also. It certainly was one of the updates that caused
it.
