Windows Update Error

When I run windows update it lists the critical updates &
windows updates no problem, but the driver updates are
greyed out & it says there was an error scanning for
updates & it is unable to list them.critical & Xp updates
install without problem, it is only the driver updates
that will not list & is greyed out
It has been like this for a couple of days now.
Can anyone help me?
