Driver problems with USB-Hub ???

Martin Weil

Hi there,

i'm running a notebook with Windows XP Home. I just bought an active USB
HUB, but everytime I connect it to my notebook, windows asks for a driver!!!
All the other USB devices (webcam, mouse, usb telephone) are still working
fine.

I know there is no driver for a usb hub, so i'm guessing my system is a
little bit screwed up ? Is there a way to re-install the usb drivers or to
make windows use the driver still existing on my system? My notebook
manufacturer doesn't supply any useful drivers and I already have SP2
installed. Should I re-install SP2 ?

Thanks for advice

Martin

Try this. Find the folder ../Windows/inf and remove its 'hidden'
attribute via a right click then Properties (you must have Folder
Options set to show hidden files and folders). Then when Windows asks
for a driver, point it there. That might work. There are sometimes
sub-folders there too so you can try them to if the main folder doesn't
work.

It worked, thanks a lot !!!

Good. I don't know why Windows can't look there properly itself though,
that's where all the stuff is kept to install hardware (*.inf files).
