Driver problems in windows vista

Guest

In have installed vista RC1 and it has turned my c drive/harddrive into f
drive and i no longer have my dvd rom drives which were d and e so i cannot
load anything on my computyer as ther is no activity when i put a cd in my
drive.
I have looked in device manager and both dvd rom drives have corrupt drivers
and will not install any other drivers as it has the most upto date drivers
it can find, and it keeps saying this Windows cannot load the device driver
for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)
if anyone can help it would be appreciated.
Many thanks.

Beefy,

Have you tried to remove the devices from Device Manager and reboot the
computer? Windows Vista should automatically detect the drives on the reboot
and add them.

I've not seen many cases when the drivers for Optical Drives go missing or
corrupt, so its POSSIBLE your installation media is defective.
