Driver problem with NEC DVD-burner ND-4571A??

I don't know... been sitting all day with this shit - installed the ND-4571A
burner, Windows accepted it for what it was but then it doesn't recognize any
media inserted.... and there are no drivers to obtain at NEC as it should
work with the Windows' drivers.... I have tried different solutions like
putting it as a slave and... Anybody?? Any known conflicts??
